Counselling

CAPRCP offer free face-to-face counselling sessions for survivors of sexual violence. Our counsellors will not judge survivors or tell them what to do but will help them to try to make sense of what has happened – they are there to walk alongside survivors on their journey from cope to recover.

Cambridge Rape Crisis Centre’s counselling is women-only, however Peterborough Rape Crisis Care Group offer counselling to both men and women.

Please note: We apologise as Cambridge Rape Crisis Centre are not able to take referrals for our counselling waiting lists until further notice. We will update this section of the website as well as our Facebook page as soon as we are open for new referrals again.

Peterborough Rape Crisis Care Group are still taking referrals.

We welcome self referrals into our service, and we can also accept referrals from other organisations and agencies.

It takes a lot of courage to come for counselling and it is not always easy to talk about your thoughts and feelings. You don’t have to talk about anything that you are not ready to talk about. Your counsellor will not judge you or tell you what to do. She will help you to try to make sense of what has happened to you and explore the ways in which you may feel differently about yourself and your relationships. She will be alongside you on this part of your journey as you work out how to fit together all the pieces of your life.
